The Strategy Editor lets experienced users customize toolpaths and cutting parameters for their machine and toolset. It is powerful and requires care.
Before you continue
Ask yourself:
Do I want to change how my machine runs and how parts are milled
Do I know the base CAM workflow and all relevant tools
Do I understand operation order such as roughing, rest milling, finishing, anatomic, etc.
Do I know how to test changes on samples before production
Do I accept that improper edits can break tools, scrap materials, or damage a machine
If you answered no to any item, pause here and request training from Level Up Support. Email [email protected].
Warning
Editing strategies without training can cause machine crashes, tool breakage, poor surface finish, or fit problems. Proceed only if you fully understand the risks and have a recovery plan.
Requirements
MillBox Expert license on your dongle
Current software build and dongle maintenance
Admin rights on the PC
How to access Strategy Editor
Launch MillBox Expert (the dark blue icon), not the standard MillBox app.
Open Tools.
Open Strategy Editor.
In some builds this is under Strategy Options or presented as SUM3D/Strategy Editor.
Choose the strategy you want to view or duplicate.
Safe workflow (strongly recommended)
Back up first
Export your current strategy or copy your strategy folder to a safe location.
Duplicate, do not overwrite
Create a copy of a proven strategy and edit the copy.
Change one thing at a time
Document feeds, stepdowns, passes, tolerances, and any tool assignments you change.
Test on a small sample
Mill a low-risk part or a shop test block before running clinical work.
Review simulation and results
Check burr marks, fit, and calculation time. Roll back if results worsen.
Publish carefully
When satisfied, rename the strategy clearly (include date and initials) and deploy to the correct material and indication only.
