When installing the 630, there are a few items that need to be checked:
Pre-Install Checklist
Recommended Working Clearance
630 Milling Machine
Here are the dimensions and installation foot print for the X-Mill 630 - Please note the following:
- Recommended Working Clearances are to ensure that you are able to work around and service the machine in-place.
- The machine cabinet has ventilation on it's lower-right side that should be left open if you intend to keep the chiller inside the lower cabinet.
CW3000 Chiller
Here are the dimensions and installation foot print for the Industrial Chiller that is used to cool the spindle during operation - Please note the following:
- Recommended Working Clearances are to ensure that the chiller is accessible for servicing, but also to maintain proper air flow for maintaining the spindle's coolant temperature at operating intervals.
Air Compressor with Dry Air
The Milling Machine requires Oil-free and Water-free compressed air:
- Air Pressure must be between 0.6 Mpa and 0.8 Mpa
- Flow Rate greater than 60L / Min or 2.12cfm
- 8mm OD Air Tube
Power Supply
The Milling Machine must meet the following power requirements:
- Voltage: 220V AC ±5% 60HZ
- Power Consumption: 3.5KW (Including Vacuum)
- Recommended 20AMP Breaker
- Required Socket / Plug: NEMA 6-20R
Coolant for Liquid-Chilled Spindle
The Machine uses a liquid-chilled spindle that requires 8L (Liters) of Automotive Antifreeze for operation.
- You must use a pre-diluted 50/50 mixture of antifreeze coolant.
- This coolant does not require you to add any water.
- We highly recommend using only Asian Vehicle coolant (Red / Pink)
- PEAK -50/50 Asian Vehicle Pre-Diluted Antifreeze / Coolant
- Valvoline Zerex Asian Vehicle 50 / 50

Connecting the Liquid Chiller
The X-Mill 630 uses a liquid chilled spindle and includes an industrial chiller that will regulate the temperature of the liquid coolant and circulate this coolant throughout the machine as needed.
Placement of Chiller
You can place the chiller either beside the milling machine on the floor or inside of the milling machine's cabinet to save space.
PLEASE NOTE: If you place the chiller inside of the machine's cabinet, you must leave one of the machine's front doors open or manually remove it from the hinge to allow adequate air flow for the chiller to keep the coolant within an acceptable operating range.
Connecting the Coolant Hose
There will be 2 coolant hoses hanging free in the bottom of the machine's lower cabinet - You can hook these up to the hoses on the back of your chiller using the included coolant lines.
Please Note:
The chiller will ship with 5 hoses and 4 adapters - You must pre-assemble these pieces as shown in the self-installation guide before hooking them up to the hoses hanging inside of your machine.
Connecting the Power for the Chiller
The chiller gets power directly from the Milling Machine and thus does not require an additional wall outlet / plug. Simply run the included power cable through a small hole on the back of the cabinet and attach / secure this power line to the plug labeled, "Chiller" on the back of the mill.
Operating Temperatures for the Chiller
Your Liquid Chiller is designed to flatten the heat curve that your spindle will experience during normal or prolonged periods of operation. This reduces thermal expansion and reduces wear, while maintaining accuracy for your milling machine. Normal operating temperatures can range from 27C -33C. If your chiller exceeds 35C temperature, you may start to experience inaccuracies on the mill.
Powering up your machine for the First Time
Please consult the manual for your machine for any specific start-up instructions
Connecting your machine to your network / WiFi
It is highly recommended to use a WIRED Ethernet connection with your mill - This will ensure that you always have a stable connection to your network for NC file transfers or when you need support.
Using WiFi
If you do not have a wired connection available, your milling machine does include a WiFi adapter. You can plug this in on the right side of the mill in one of the 2 open ports:
